Engr. Seyi Maktinde, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial aspirant, has given out N50million naira bursary allowance to two thousand five hundred Oyo state tertiary institution students.
In a statement issued by the Seyi Makinde organisation and signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, over 10,000 students have benefited from the programme which the aspirant started since 2006.
While presenting the bursaries, Makinde said education is very important and mustn’t be played with politics.
According to Engr Seyi Makinde, United Nations Education and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO’s policy on education is that 26 percent of the annual budget of the state must be allocated to education but only 2.5 percent is allocated to education in Oyo state.
He however noted that he will continue to support the UNESCO Standard in order to move education forward in Oyo state.
The dignitaries at the event include Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, Primate Olamakinde, Senator Kamoru Adedibu, Chief Jacob Adetoro, Engr Lere Adigun Pastor Adeniji, Chairman Of Christians Association of Nigeria, Oyo state Branch, Pastor B O Akanmu and representative of Chief Imam of Ibadan, Sheik Abdul Ganiyu Agbotomokekere among others.
