LEAD City Students Organize Career Talk For Students Of Royal Favour College

Students from the Guidance and Counselling Department of Lead City University Ibadan, have organized a one day career talk for students of Royal Favour College.

The career talk was held today at the school hall of Royal Favour College, Akobo, Ibadan.

Speaking during the event, Dr Sabina Nwakaego Obi, a lecturer from the department of Guidance and Counselling, Lead City university, described the programme as a laudable one geared at preparing the students of Royal Favour College in making right career choice. She said Guidance and Counselling is a profession worthy of doing as a career and called on the students of the citadel of learning to follow their passion and interest in making a choice of career.

In his own address, Mr Ayo Olanipekun, a guest speaker at the occasion, called on students to choose their career based on their strength and their area of their gifting. He also charged the students to choose career after discovering their area of strength.

Mrs Taiwo Bolarinwa, a Nurse, who spoke on the topic: ‘Nursing as a profession’, said nurses promote health, prevent infections, alleviate suffering and prevent diseases. She stressed the importance of passing O’ level with good grades for students who intend doing nursing in tertiary institutions. According to her, nursing is a competitive profession and therefore require studying hard.

Also speaking at the programme, Miss Banke Olofintila, a lawyer and an erudite teacher, Mrs Ngozi Okorafor in their separate speech, emphasized the need for hard work and logical reasoning for students in choosing any career of their choice.

Among those present at the event were Mrs Akilapa, the Principal of Royal Favour College, teachers from the schools, students from the senior classes and some of the facilitators of the programme among whom was Mrs Aliu also a student from the Guidance and Counselling Department of Lead City University.
