The Gospel Faith Mission International (Region 17) has organised a one-day sensitization programme on ”The Effects of Drug Abuse” for Youths in Region 17, Ibadan.
The programme which was done yesterday, at the Ode-Aje District Headquarters of the church, was graced by dozens of youths from within and outside the church headquarters.
Speaking at the event, Pharmacist Jacob Ojeibun urged the youths to desist from taking drugs without the prescription from a competent pharmacist.
He also called on the participants at the event to stop patronizing quack health professionals or patent medicine sellers or chemist shop that are not trained or knowledgeable enough on drug and health matters
Also speaking at the event, Pastor (Dr.) Segun Alawode, noted that the menace of drug is contributing to increase cases of insanity among the youths. He stressed that youths should avoid drugs such as tramadol, codeine, cocaine, nicotine(present in cigarette) , valium, Indian hemp among other harmful substances.
